Although the end of 2016 came with major amendments to the legal framework concerning the construction and urbanism legislation by enactment of the Emergency Government Ordinance no. 100/2016 (the "Ordinance"), the Ordinance ceased its effects as of 5 May 2017 when Law no. 86/2017 on the rejection of the Ordinance (the “Rejection Law”) entered into force.

In this respect, as of 5 May 2017, the old provisions of Law no. 50/1991 on constructions authorization and Law no. 350/2001 on landscaping and urban planning (i.e., in the form prior to the Ordinance ) re-entered into force.
