Adrian-Cătălin Bulboacă, CFO Business Mark Cluj, May 2024

“The year 2023 was focused, in terms of potential funding, on a complex diversity. We are talking about financing that takes into account the development of production capacity, about financing for the acquisition of companies. As an element of particular novelty, in the sense that we notice a trend, we are talking about financing aimed at international expansion among Romanian entrepreneurial companies. In 2024, potential financiers range from banks to investment funds.

Regardless of the purpose of the financing, regardless of the industry in which the borrowed company is located, the problems are the same, from costs to the documentation to be presented in the financing process, business plan, auditing and even possible financiers. We are witnessing a maturation of companies that can borrow. Maturation involves both the quality of the preparation of those who resort to loans and the purpose of financing. Beyond a certain level, the local market – I am talking here about bank financing – will no longer be enough, except through unionized structures. They have advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that local banks already know the borrower, but there is the disadvantage that, when you have resorted to a unionized structure, the ease of movement at the entrepreneurial level diminishes.”
