𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞: New 2023 European Directive on consumer credit agreements is repealing, as of 20 November 2026, the prior 2008 European Directive on consumer credit agreements.
Member States must implement these provisions and adopt related laws and regulations by 25 November 2025.
The new directive expands its coverage to loans below EUR 200 and buy-now-pay letter products, introducing provisions to protect consumers.
These include measures against over-indebtedness and stricter credit advertising rules by lenders. The credit information, including the key elements of the credit must be presented in a clear and concise manner which might be verified by the customers even on digital devices.
